Making Weight

Above all else, I am a health advocate. No matter your health goals I believe that anything that you do should work long term.
People use various methods to drop pounds that if used over a long period of time hurt more than help. While they may produce good initial results, they are not good practice. You are substituting one problem for another.
There are ways to make big steps quickly and still not jeopardize your health, but they will require discipline and commitment. In the What to Eat section I will introduce you to a program that can make those big steps possible while providing long term health benefits. Read More
Making a positive change requires a change from what you have been doing.
Simple enough really, but some people fight this so hard, but it is a simple fact. You are in the condition you are in for a reason (outside of unusual genetic disorders) . If you have want to be in better condition then things you were doing need to change.
To make the change easier to start and stick with an established program is much much easier. Whether the program is for exercise or eating it provides a structure, guidance and when done with others, support and motivation.
We will post articles here and there that cover a wide variety of issues that effect our over all health, but we will be focusing here on two pillars of Making Your Weight - What you eat and getting exercise.
Exercise -
Choosing an exercise program is a very personal thing. That are hundreds of sports and activities that can produce great results. Choosing a sport and or class is a great way to keep yourself motivated and get into great shape. Personally, my main sport is BJJ - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Above and beyond your sport getting more exercise is a great way to get in better condition as well as getting better in your sport. We will be adding more of these topics as well into the blog area, but you can start here.
What You Eat -
If the World were a perfect place I wouldn’t have to worry about food with less and less nutritional value. There would be no pollutants and toxins and everything would be environmentally ‘green’. All crops would be organically grown in wide varieties and I would also have all the time needed to shop and cook multiple meals daily.
Alas - it just isn’t reality. So - I searched for options that would work for getting me into better condition. The whole issue of dealing with the toxins - well that was a perk at first. Then I learned more about the whole issue and have come to really appreciate that part of the program.

Two Focused Goals
There are 2 parts of making weight.
- Healthy Lifestyle - This is the base for healthy lifestyle and is foundational nutrition. It is the program we will spend our time addressing.
- Competition - reaching a specific weight for a fight / tournament. This is a specific issue that we address. While this can be done without our programs, I suggest being very careful. A single competition is not worth jeopardizing your long term health.
